Flowers are a must at a wedding. Nowadays, in addition to the more obvious flowers, other varieties are being considered for use in bridal bouquets and decorations. To illustrate: we incorporated some lovely chrysanthemums into a number of wedding creations.
After Zentoo鈥檚 wedding shoot, it was time for a chat with one of the florists: the talented Samantha, who created the summery side of the chrysanthemum backdrop (among other things). How did she experience this, how much creativity was required for this project, and what were some of the techniques and materials she used?
As a florist, it is quite a challenge to make precisely the wedding bouquet a bride has in mind. Samantha says that you aren鈥檛 often given free rein when it comes to choosing the flowers for a wedding.
The chrysanthemum is a fine flower to work with, also in bridal bouquets or floral creations for a wedding. In addition, the special properties of this flower (longevity, a strong stem and bud and a favourable price) also make it very suitable for a wedding.
The objective was to bring the chrysanthemum prominently to the foreground, as other flowers were also incorporated into the backdrop. The trick was to keep the other flowers from overshadowing the chrysanthemum. According to Samantha, the beauty of a floral creation does not depend solely on the flowers you use, but on the combinations you make. Working with different colours, shapes and textures, as well as the way in which a flower moves, results in something that is truly special. The more materials you use, the

Discovering that the chrysanthemum was available in different colours and varieties was a pleasant surprise for florist Samantha. After the photo shoot, she started to think differently about chrysanthemums in wedding creations: 鈥楢fter this wedding shoot I started thinking differently about the chrysanthemum. I did not know that the flower was also available in nude shades, for example. I sometimes thought chrysanthemums were a bit too much, but I simply fell in love with Pastella Rose during the shoot,鈥� explained Samantha.
Samantha used floral foam and a wooden spinning top to make her decorations: 鈥楾he flowers
decorating the bicycle and in the backdrop were inserted into floral foam. For the bouquet, I used an old wooden spinning top onto which I pasted lots and lots of chrysanthemums.鈥�
After seeing the results of the photo shoot and the beautiful creations that were made, we can only concur that introducing the chrysanthemum as a suitable flower for wedding creations was a huge success.
